HOW MUCH TIME AND MONEY CAN SMS MARKETING SAVE?

Close your eyes.

Now imagine you are the marketing manager of a promising startup and you need to send out a pitch to prospective clients and/or investors. This pitch is time sensitive and you are on a really tight schedule, but it is your duty, and in your interest, to disseminate this information to all the intended recipients as soon as possible – about a thousand of them.

What do you do? Open your eyes and tell me: what is the smartest, most convenient and most effective way to competently handle this responsibility, so as to save yourself both time and money?

No, you don’t use a Town Crier. This is 2018.

Call them all? Don’t be ridiculous.

Radio Broadcast? Besides the time it would take before your message finally gets broadcasted, what percentage of our population stay glued to their radio these days, let alone your target population?

Television Announcements won’t fare any better. Nor newspapers. Nor billboards; all these utilize the ‘spray and pray’ approach.

Your best bet is SMS! Bulk SMS.

SMS MARKETING VS OTHER CHANNELS

Marketing is serious business – a business would be ‘lost in the crowd’ without it. The rational need for frequent marketing, therefore, makes it imperative that business owners choose a marketing channel that would assure them the best value for their money and time, consistently.

TIME SAVING POTENTIAL OF SMS MARKETING

Marketing channels like Radio, TV, Newspapers/Magazines, Handbills/Fliers and Billboards require the professional assistance of graphic designers, editors, marketing consultants, etc; all to convert your message into a format worthy of their platform. While all these are necessary/standard practice, the time spent meeting with key people and waiting for the inputs and reviews to be completed could take up to several weeks.

Several weeks.

In comparison, SMS texts can be posted immediately after the message is created. Moreover, research has shown that SMS has a breathtaking open rate of 99% (meaning that 99% of people who receive an SMS do open and read the message), and 90% of these messages are read within 3 minutes of receiving it. This, on a balance of probabilities, means that your message gets delivered to your target audience, and read, all within 5 minutes of it being sent.

5 minutes.

MONEY SAVING POTENTIAL OF SMS MARKETING

The immense money-saving potential of bulk SMS service is so glaring that it’s blinding. Compared with cold-calls, SMS is the obvious winner. Even if the cost per session for one customer is 15k per second, with an average of 3 minutes spent per session, the total cost per customer would equal N27.00. This is at least 93% more than the cost per customer of SMS Marketing through bulk SMS, without the repetitiveness.

TV, Billboards, Radio, Magazines and Newspapers are all far more expensive marketing channels – running in hundreds of thousands -despite the fact that their chances of capturing a target group are quite dismal. Compare this to a whopping 100% inherent specificity of SMS campaigns and much higher return rates on your investment.

SMS Marketing undoubtedly offers you the best value for your money as a business owner – and you don’t even need a truckload of it.
